Robins' Starter For Ten As City Boss

Saturday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe United was Mark Robins' 10th league game in charge of Coventry City and the Sky Blues remain as consistently inconsistent as ever under the new manager, whose record to date is 4 wins, 4 defeats and 2 draws.

All of the defeats have been by the same scoreline with no more than a goal between the two sides in each game and there is no doubt that City present a far harder challenge to their opponents than they were doing in the lull between the sacking of Andy Thorn and the appointment of Robins.

The old failings remain, however, with leads habitually lost and poor goals conceded. Those failings saw Thorn lose his job but results since he left show that they were not necessarily of his own making.

Robins spoke after the midweek win against Crawley of better fitness levels amongst his squad and a gradual movement towards the style of play he wanted to impose on his side.

He will therefore have been left banging his head against the dressing room door by the nature of Saturday's defeat but to the majority of the 9,892 crowd the performance will, sadly, have come as no surprise.

It is so frustrating for us that the team cannot make a step up as in making four wins on the trot.

We're no further on (to the naked eye at least without any real insight into training etc) than when Thorn was sacked, we have just got back to that level after the catastrophe under Shaw. Too many leads lost and poor goals conceded. It's all pointing to another big turnaround in players in January.
