Sky Blues Crawl Out Of The Drop Zone

Coventry City moved out of the relegation zone in League One on Tuesday night with a welcome 3-1 victory against Crawley Town, a third win in succession for Mark Robins` side.

Despite Crawley having the majority of the possession and chances in the opening 45 minutes it was the Sky Blues who went in two goals to the good at the break with John Fleck opening the scoring and then creating the second for David McGoldrick.

No lead in football is more precarious than Coventry City being 2-0 up and Billy Clarke`s goal for the visitors on 56 minutes had the majority of the 8,862 crowd fearing the worst but main man McGoldrick eased the nerves with his second of the game.

A side containing McGoldrick, Cody McDonald, Carl Baker and the increasingly influential Fleck should have goals in them and this, allied to the defensive steel that City have increasingly shown in recent weeks, gives cause for cautious optimism that Robins is inching the club forward week by week.

Scunthorpe are the next visitors to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday and they will arrive in upbeat mood following an impressive away win at Walsall on Tuesday night.
