Cups Provide Some Sky Blue Cheer

Coventry City's dismal first season in League One has been alleviated to a small degree by the Sky Blues' performance in the cup competitions with Saturday's comfortable win over Arlesey their 5th success of the campaign in knockout competitions.

The League Cup victories against Dagenham & Redbridge and Birmingham City set up a financial windfall with the trip to Arsenal and it has to be hoped the FA Cup will do the same after City were paired with either Morecambe or Rochdale at home in the 2nd Round.

Meanwhile, the Johnstone's Paint Trophy could yet provide a long overdue trip to Wembley which would be a measure of reward for the club's long suffering supporters.

Without the games against Blues, Arsenal and York it would have been even more of a dismal season
