From Nice To Nuneaton for Malaga
Coventry City defender Kevin Malaga made a positive start to life on loan at Nuneaton Town on Saturday as the Blue Square Premier side held their divisional rivals Luton Town to join the Sky Blues in the draw for the second round of the FA Cup.
His debut at Kenilworth Road caps a strange six months for the Frenchman, 25, who was hailed as an important signing when brought to Coventry by Andy Thorn in the summer.
'We are really pleased to bring him to the club because I know that several other teams were keen to get him, including a Premier League side,' said the former Ricoh Arena boss at the time.
Malaga started the home games against Sheffield United and Bury before Thorn's sacking but didn't make another appearance under either Richard Shaw or Mark Robins and was placed onto the transfer list by Robins just a few weeks into his reign.
There seems to be no future in CV6 for the player but Malaga is to be applauded for taking the opportunity to get first team football under his belt by dropping into the Conference, a league he may never have even known existed when enjoying the summer sunshine in Nice!
