Ex-City keeper on the scoresheet!

Former Coventry City goalkeeper Gavin Ward was a surprise name on the scoresheet for Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, netting after nine minutes of their game with Leyton Orient when his long dead-ball kick caught the wind and bouunced over the visiting keeper.

Although goalkeepers scoring goals have become numerous in recent years thanks to the trend of them going up for late corners and free-kicks, Ward joins a select band of number ones who have scored from inside their own-half, one of whom was our very own Oggy, who managed the feat against Sheffield Wednesday in the cup winning season of 86/87.

Ohh Gavin Warddd, Gavin Gavin Gavin Wardd, Gavin Gavin Gavin Wardd....:D I think he might have to get used to fans shouting "SHOOOOOT" every goal-kick/free-kick/normal play he has now! Incidentally, he did make some good saves yesterday too!

Oh for a few more goals like that, great if it was in Europe and on Tv as well. Great to watch unless you happen to support the team that let the fluky goal in!
