'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robins makes his mark at CCFC

Mark Robins was not at Coventry City's midweek hammering at the hands of Shrewsbury but said he had someone at the game on his behalf and their verdict must have been every bit as damning as those delivered by the 600+ Sky Blues supporters in attendance.

For the new manager made a triple signing on Friday ahead of his first game in charge against Carlisle.

Midfielders Conor Henderson (on loan from Arsenal) and Franck Moussa (a free agent) and left-back Jamie Reckord (on loan from Wolves) all come into immediate contention for a start.

Moussa was most recently with Leicester City but impressed greatly in League One last season during a loan spell with Chesterfield.

'It was always in my mind to do three or four deals to bring in players to give us some added strength,' said Robins.

'Franck can play central or right-sided. He's got enough pace, he's tricky and can score so he gives us utility across the midfield.

'Jamie Reckord is desperate to play so we're giving him the opportunity to force his way into the first team and he also provides good cover for the left-back spot.

'In Conor, we have a very clever midfield player with a wand of a left foot in the mould of players like Michael Carrick and Chris Brunt who is desperate to play and hungry for it.'

Steve Taylor, who worked alongside Robins at Barnsley and Rotherham, meanwhile, has been drafted in to join the new manager's backroom team.

A very busy day of Sky Blues news what with possible movement on the stadium. Don't know much about the new players but wouldn't be surprised to see them all start.
