'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Money for Sky Blues this time around?

Former Sky Blues academy supremo Richard Money is being strongly linked with the manager's job at the Ricoh Arena four years after he was one of the main names in the frame to succeed Iain Dowie at the club.

'It's just speculation. It's understandable though because I had four very good and happy years there,' Money told BBC WM back in 2008 while in charge of Walsall.

Nine candidates are set to be interviewed this week by the club hierarchy and, despite a succession of players coming out to absolve Richard Shaw for the poor results he has suffered while in caretaker charge, the signs are that an outside appointment will be made.

***Update***

It also emerged on Tuesday afternoon that former Derby County, Hull City and Preston North End manager Phil Brown will be interviewed for the job.

Brown's personality has occasionally rubbed some supporters up the wrong way and his managerial record can be taken as evidence both for and against his appointment. His spells at Derby and Preston were too short to make final judgements but his time at Hull will be remembered by fans there.

Brown doesn't immediately leap out as someone who I would want to get the job but that's more to do with his perceived personality than anything else. His record is as good/bad as anyone else. Hull was the only one of his three jobs where he got plenty of time and he did work wonders there.
