Andy Thorn fired as Sky Blues boss

Coventry City have sacked manager Andy Thorn, following the 2-2 draw with Bury on Saturday.

City blew a two-goal lead and Thorn said after the match that the second-half performance had been 'unacceptable.'

The Sky Blues are unbeaten this season but have only won one match, in the Capital One Cup against Dagenham and lost leads in all three of their league games against Yeovil, Sheffield United and Bury.

Thorn spent 17 months as manager after moving up from Chief Scout when Aidy Bothroyd departed.

Richard Shaw and Lee Carsley have been placed in temporary charge ahead of Tuesday night's League Cup tie with Birmingham City.

Thoughts on Thorn's sacking to follow on Vital Coventry.

Maybe Shaw and Carslet can shore up our defence as at the moment we could even lose goals to Nuneaton.

Those two were doing the majority of the touchline talking on Saturday. If it is also the case that they are doing most of the training (which we don't know) then maybe Tim Fisher felt we didn't need three 'managers' at the club, especially when two are well respected ex-players. It's harsh on AT but could anyone feel really confident that he was going to get the team on the kind of winning run that puts you right in the promotion mix.
