'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Can City get that winning feeling?

A lot of the comments made by Sky Blues supporters on forums and message boards over the summer have expressed a hope that City`s relegation to League One can finally bring about a change in the culture of the club, one that has all too often been a losing culture over the past decade.

Since dropping into the Championship in 2001 there has been no top-six finish, no cup semi-finals, no trip to Wembley (or Cardiff) and only 2 seasons where City have won more league games than they have lost.

Dropping down into League One has proved to be a catalyst for many teams with Southampton and Norwich City the most recent examples of how the momentum gained from a successful season in whatever division can be carried over to a higher level.

And it is not just the league either. Good cup runs can bring about a feelgood factor and the Sky Blues should not ignore the fact that the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy provides a very viable means of going to Wembley and winning silverware in the upcoming season.

Football League rules mean that drastically changed sides cannot be fielded in the competition but with City having some depth to their squad after making a number of signings they will be able to rotate to a degree while still putting out a strong side.

Only time will tell if this bunch of rejects and no hopers do well in division 1. We will have to wait till they gel and if this is not achieved in the fiurst game we will have to find a way of avoiding a second drop. iy

the comments of lewf just sum up the negativity that surrounds the team. Why not give the 'rejects and no hopers' at least a chance to prove what they can do.
