Sky Blues look to step it up

After seeing some of his younger and fringe players fail to take their opportunity at Nuneaton on Saturday afternoon, Coventry City manager Andy Thorn will look to begin fine tuning preparations for the new season when the Sky Blues face Wrexham on Tuesday night.

Former Highfield Road favourite Andy Morrell's side will provide a tough test after their excellent season in the Blue Square Premier but are likely to come up against what Thorn feels is his first XI for the game.

New signing William Edjenguele was the only man to escape Thorn's displeasure at the weekend in what was a difficult game for the manager's two trialists to make an impression.

Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph: "There were eight or nine boys who weren`t involved on Saturday and who will be in and around the first team.

"They have done their fitness work and they will all play at Wrexham on Tuesday when it will be a good opportunity for people to stake a claim."
