Should City cash in on defender?

Despite being regulars in a side relegated from the Championship last season a number of Coventry City defenders are wanted by clubs in the second tier as the new season approaches.

Richard Keogh has already sealed his move to Derby County while Martin Cranie has been linked with both Middlesbrough and Leeds United since turning down the offer of a new contract at the Ricoh Arena.

Now it is the turn of left-back Chris Hussey to attract attention from the Championship as the former AFC Wimbledon man enters the final year of his Sky Blues contract.

'convinced'

Hussey's attacking instincts are vital in the modern game but he has never quite convinced with his all-round play and City were susceptible at times last season to long, diagonal balls played from the opposition's right-hand side.

Andy Thorn meanwhile is delighted with the immediate impact made in training by his season-long loan captures Callum Ball and Reece Brown. Ball has been described as a 'right unit' and Brown as an 'athlete', all qualities that will be needed for the 46-game slog that is a season in League One.

Both players are in line to make their Sky Blues' debut at Nuneaton on Saturday afternoon.

Hussey good going forward but showed last season a poor defender.
