Sky Blues start early in promotion quest

With four weeks still to go until the start of the Football League season Coventry City already have four pre-season fixtures under their belt as Andy Thorn looks to have his side in fine fettle come Saturday 18th August and the trip to Yeovil.

A League Cup game at Dagenham comes before that but it is League One and the quest for an immediate return to the Championship that will be the number one priority of all connected with the Sky Blues.

Fitness and team bonding will hopefully have been improved in equal measure by the tour of Scotland which started with five goals against Brora Rangers before defeats by SPL sides Ross County and Inverness whose season starts two weeks before City's.

A quintet of new signings made the journey north and will be joined at Ryton on their return by Callum Ball and Reece Brown, both of whom will be looking to make their mark on Thorn and earn a place in the starting line-up when the action gets serious in just under a month's time.
