City hit eight but Thorn wants new strikers

Coventry City generated some more good news for their supporters on Saturday with an 8-0 win at Hinckley in their opening pre-season fixture to add to the signing of Kevin Malaga on Friday.

The Frenchman made his debut in the game alongside fellow newboys John Fleck, Kevin Kilbane and Stephen Elliott.

Roy O'Donovan and Gary McSheffrey were among the goalscorers but Andy Thorn admitted afterwards that he was keen to get at least one more new striker into the club.

Speaking to the official club website he said: 'There is a chance we could get a couple in through the door which I'm pleased about.'

A warm welcome now awaits City and their followers in the highlands of Scotland as they take on Brora Rangers, Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle with the latter two games, against SPL opposition, set to provide a good early test of the optimism being generated by Thorn's summer transfer deals.
