Get ready for a recurring story

The Coventry Telegraph headline of Friday morning - 'Coventry City miss out on transfer target' - is likely to be a recurring theme throughout the next few weeks as the Sky Blues wait for their transfer embargo to be lifted.

The player in question, Bradford City midfielder David Syers, has signed a deal with Doncaster Rovers for the forthcoming campaign.

His name is just one of many in the frame for a move to the Ricoh Arena and there remains plenty of time to do the deals necessary to give City a squad capable of mounting a challenge in League One.

That will not lessen the frustration for Andy Thorn however as this summer plays out in a very similar fashion to last year.
