League One familiar faces: Lee Hughes

League One familiar faces: Lee Hughes

Coventry City will come into contact with a number of old boys when they drop into League One next season including a player, incredibly, that cost the club £1 over £5m when he signed from West Bromwich Albion in 2001.

Hughes was meant to be the man to fire the Sky Blues straight back into the top-flight of English football but his signing was something of a mirage as the club began its long battle against financial meltdown following relegation.

He netted on his debut and another 14 times in his only season at Highfield Road but went back to first love West Brom at the end of the campaign.

Now with Notts County, Hughes' career will always be overshadowed by his imprisonment for causing death by dangerous driving in 2004.
