Experienced striker Clive Platt, who Andy Thorn talked of offering a new contract to this summer, has agreed a deal with League Two side Northampton Town.
Platt, who played a significant role in the Sky Blues' best spell of last season, links up once again with the man who originally took him to the Ricoh Arena, Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd.
'He is the most under-rated player I have ever managed,' Boothroyd told the official Cobblers website.
In other Coventry City transfer news, free agent Sammy Clingan is being linked with Brighton and Millwall while Thorn has dismissed a link with Hartlepool midfielder Gary Liddle.
***Vital View***Platt's exit has already brought forth plenty of doom and gloom from the same people who were probably unhappy about him being offered a new contract.
Any City deal on the table would likely have been a one-year offer to play a bit part next season. Instead Platt will be a regular starter at Northampton, on a two-year deal and with his former manager at the club.
That's not to say City will not miss him if, like last summer's departures he is not adequately replaced with a similar type of player who can offer more in the goalscoring department.
Somebody such as Steve Howard, set to leave Leicester City this summer but still a powerful performer and with a healthier strike rate than Plattini.
