'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coventry City latest

Loan duo James McPake and Roy O'Donovan helped Hibernian secure their SPL status on Monday night as the Edinburgh side defeated Dunfermline by four goals to nil.

McPake turned in a barnstorming display to cement his status as a cult hero at Easter Road since his return to Scotland.

Hibs are now thought to be preparing a £100,000 bid for the central defender who manager Pat Fenlon said has been a 'different class' for his side in recent weeks.

Andy Thorn meanwhile has backed Cody McDonald, who showed glimpses of his goalscoring potential towards the end of the season, to be a big hit in League One next year.

'He's going to be so much better for having a pre-season under his belt.'

Transfer rumour and gossip concerning the Sky Blues suggest that AFC Wimbledon midfielder Sammy Moore is on the radar while Charlton Athletic are keen to sign David Bell (cue lots of 'I'll drive him there myself' comments) and Ipswich want Richard Keogh. Wimbledon boss Terry Brown has received no offers for Moore, telling his local press: 'It's one of our priorities to keep him here.'

Off the field there is little to report as Thorn waits on the budget for next season to be agreed and the transfer embargo lifted so he can pursue his targets. To that end he will be hopeful that stories of Chinese interest in the Sky Blues as part of any Gary Hoffman-led takeover are true.

The (potential) Chinese interest is the first bit of positive news we have had for a long time.
