Sky Blues against...best of the rest

Having finished just one place off the play-off spots in the Championship, Middlesbrough may be left to rue their failure to take more than one point off Coventry City this season.

A Lukas Jutkiewicz goal gave the Sky Blues a point at the Riverside Stadium in late August. The popular striker, by then a 'Boro player, sat out the return in game in January when Alex Nimely inspired a 3-1 home win.

Hull City meanwhile, having edged December's game at the Ricoh Arena, became the only side to lose at home to the Sky Blues when Cody McDonald secured all three points for Andy Thorn's side at the high point of their bid for survival.

City fared less well against their wealthy neighbours from up the road as Leicester opened the season with a narrow win in CV6 before a comfortable victory on their own turf.

The (relative) strength of Coventry's home record is further shown by the fact that they took seven points out of a possible nine from Brighton, Watford and Derby, who finished 10th, 11th and 12th in the table.

Away from home however that record of two wins and a draw was reversed with only a single point gained from the trip to Watford.

Games played 12, points gained 15, points per game 1.25.

That's a decent record against teams who were looking to make the play-offs.
