Cranie hopeful of Sky Blues stay

Coventry City's current position, teetering on the edge of relegation to League One, means the make-up of next season's squad is far from clear (along with who will be manager and the ownership of the club).

One of those players out of contract in the summer is Martin Cranie, the central defender who, along with his partner Richard Keogh, can be absolved of blame for the club's plight given their excellent displays.

Having spent the majority of his career prior to joining the Sky Blues being loaned out by either Southampton or Portsmouth, Cranie has nothced up over 100 appearances for City.

He told Sky Sports: 'I've had a great time.

'This is probably the first time that I have been settled. I have played pretty much every game for the last three seasons and it's been good. I'm settled up here now and I'm enjoying my football.

'I am just hoping that we can sort something out.

'We have left it because of the position we are in at the minute, but as soon as the season is over then we will sit down and hopefully sort something out.'
