'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thorn praises Sky Blues spirit

Speaking after the 2-2 draw with Peterborough United on Saturday and before Bristol City's win at Nottingham Forest pushed the Sky Blues back into the relegation zone, manager Andy Thorn praised his side's spirit as they battled back from conceding an early goal at the Ricoh Arena.

'I thought we showed great character to come back from one down, real determination,' Thorn said as he came to terms with Emile Sinclair's second goal which denied the home side a crucial win.

'At the end of the day it's another point towards where we want to get.

'After the start I would have taken it, but when we're in front and we had those chances I'm a little disappointed we didn't see it over the line.'

The Sky Blues are now seven games unbeaten and, although the City Ground result was unwelcome at first glance, the equation for Monday's huge game at Ashton Gate remains much the same with Thorn's men looking to take all three points.

Peterborough can now do City a favour as they host Nottingham Forest.

'This weekend is always very, very pivotal in any season,' said manager Darren Ferguson.

'Whether you're trying to stay in the league, going for the play-offs or going for automatic promotion, it's a big weekend for all teams - and in this league there's not many teams who aren't playing for anything.

'If we come out of the weekend unscathed then I'll be delighted.'
