Sky Blues march on as Pompey downed

Second half goals from Gary McSheffrey and Oliver Norwood extended Coventry City's unbeaten run to five games and sunk Portsmouth at the Ricoh Arena as Andy Thorn's men seek to move out of the bottom three.

With results elsewhere mainly going in the Sky Blues favour this has indeed been a good afternoon as they move to within a point of safety after a deserved win.

Andy Thorn once again engineered an upturn in performance after half-time and said: "We changed a couple of things and we spoke about a few things and just filled them with energy.

"We moved the ball really well and scored two really good goals that had a bit of quality about them. We've got a bit of momentum going now and we have to make sure we maintain that and see what happens."

Visiting boss Michael Appleton praised Portsmouth's fans but felt his side didn't 'do enough to force the issue' as they lost crucial ground in the safety scrap.
