Saturday's 1-1 draw against Birmingham City left Coventry City with 10 games in which to put together a consistent run of winning games and save themselves from the drop into League One.
The perception of the Sky Blues' season is that they have become more competitive since Christmas but a breakdown of the 36 games played to date does not bear that out with the figures reading as follows.
First 12: 2 wins, 5 draws, 5 defeats (11 points). 9 goals scored.
Second 12: 2 wins, 2 draws, 8 defeats (8 points). 11 goals scored.
Third 12: 3 wins, 2 draws, 7 defeats (11 points). 11 goals scored.
The first dozen games of the campaign saw a City side that was struggling to score goals and win games but who were tougher to beat than in the next two stages of the season.
The second clump of fixtures was saved from complete disaster by the back-to-back home wins over Christmas and the third, although it has seen excellent victories over Middlesbrough and Leeds, has still failed to bring that winning run that would have the teams above us worried.
All of the above wins of course have come on home soil and, as has been said throughout the campaign, City simply must pick up some victories on the road between now and May to have a chance of staying up.
