'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thorn confident of Sky Blue survival

Andy Thorn issued a rallying cry for Championship safety after seeing his side match promotion contenders Birmingham City in a competitive local derby on Saturday.

The 1-1 draw leaves the Sky Blues four points adrift of safety after the afternoon games with a rapidly dwindling pool of teams above them to catch.

Thorn however said: 'We're going to give it a really good go. We have got four more games here and we're going to give it everything we've got and stick together as a team.

'I think we will pick up enough points. At one stage we were nine points away and to be right in it is a credit to the boys and the way they have pulled themselves back.'

Opposite number Chris Hughton accepted the sending off of Jordon Mutch late in the game but was happy enough with the point, earned by Marlon King on his return to the Ricoh Arena.

'Marlon worked very hard today on what was quite a difficult pitch,' he said.

'I thought Marlon's hold-up play was very good and that's two goals in two games now and I'm pleased for him particularly coming back to an old club - it always means that little bit more.'
