Greek keeper hopes for City move

Greek keeper hopes for City move

Hartlepool United goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos is hoping that after losing Luke Steele to West Brom, Coventry City manager Micky Adams makes a second bid for him.

The 27-year-old told clubcall: 'I am disappointed that the club have stood in my way to stop me completing what would be a dream move to Coventry.

'I am happy at the club, I love the fans, but it is time in my career to move on but unfortunately Hartlepool have rejected the offer when a big club came in for me. I have given my best for three years and feel now is the right time to leave.

'Hartlepool said they would not stand in my way if a big club came in for me so I am very disappointed by the stance of the club to deny me a great opportunity in my career. I am really desperate to leave now.

'Coventry have lost out on another keeper, and I hope that they rekindle their interest and this time Hartlepool will not stand in my way.'

Adams meanwhile is looking to offload some of his fringe players ahead of the transfer deadline.

He said: 'I'm happy with the group of players I have but I do feel the squad needs to be trimmed down a little.

'Perhaps we will look to shift a few of them out, if not permanently then at least on loan somewhere.

'That might be a good idea, especially for some of the younger players as we don't have a reserve team this season.

'I don't think some valuable first-team football in the lower leagues would do any harm to their education.'

After your performance at Walsall Demitrios, thanks but no thanks. I hear Bywater is back on our wanted list...now that would be good news.
