Sky Blues at the seaside on deadline day

Andy Thorn takes his Coventry City side to the seaside on Tuesday but there will be little time for fun as the Sky Blues tackle the serious business of improving their dreadful away form at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool.

The City team coach should be in good spirits on the journey north after the excellent win over Middlesbrough followed by a free weekend to rest and recuperate the squad's injured players.

Thorn however is likely to have his mobile phone switched on and fully charged as the match takes place on transfer deadline day.

'boosted'

His hopes of bringing in another loan signing were boosted by the departure of James McPake to Hibernian last week but, while the Scot was only on the fringes of the first team, the departure of one of Thorn's key men such as Sammy Clingan or Martin Cranie cannot be ruled out until the window has slammed shut.

After a relatively upbeat seven days for followers of the Sky Blues is it asking too much for another good week or will the warm glow of last Saturday and Alex Nimely's debut fade away in the chilly January air of Blackpool?

The Seasiders meanwhile have been busy ahead of the deadline with Wigan youngster Nouha Dicko joining on loan for the rest of the season.
