SPL move for Sky Blues defender

Coventry City defender James McPake has completed a loan move back to Scotland, joining Hibernian until the end of the season.

'I'm really pleased to be on board with Hibs and can't wait to get started,' the 27-year-old told his new club's official website.

'Ever since I moved down the road, I've watched a lot of SPL football and I cannot believe a club of Hibernian's size are in the position they're in.'

McPake has spent just under three years at the Ricoh Arena, joining from Livingston at the end of the 2009 January transfer window.

'It's going to be a massive step up but I hope I can cope,' said McPake at the time. 'I've played in the (Scottish) Premier with Livingston.'

Although the player himself would contest the 'injury-prone' tag his time with the Sky Blues has seen him make less than 50 appearances.

'gutsy'

The high point of his City spell would have been the role he played in a rise up the league table in the opening months of 2010, particularly a gutsy display alongside Richard Wood in a 1-0 win over promotion chasing Nottingham Forest.

With Wood and Nathan Cameron available to Andy Thorn however in addition to current first-choices Richard Keogh and Martin Cranie, the departure of McPake has looked inevitable during the transfer window and his move will hopefully free up funds for Thorn to use on another loan signing.
