Coventry confirm Manchester City deal

Amid increasing speculation about the future of leading goalscorer Lukas Jutkiewicz, Coventry City have confirmed the loan signing until the end of the season of Manchester City's 20-year-old forward Alex Tchuimeni-Nimely.

Described as a 'hot young prospect' by Sky Blues boss Andy Thorn, the England Under 20 international has already been on loan at Middlesbrough this season.

While it would be nice to imagine a strike pairing of Nimely and Jutkiewicz it looks increasingly likely that the former Everton man has played his last game for the club. Having ploughed a lonely furrow up front for much of the season and done so with 100% commitment, few City fans will begrudge Jutkiewicz swapping a relegation fight for a promotion battle with Middlesbrough, Southampton or whoever wins his signature.

As always with the Sky Blues the proof of the pudding will come if they make further signings with the money received. Simply swapping Jutkiewicz for Nimely will not save them from the drop.

Update

A fee has been agreed with Middlesbrough for Jutkiewicz.

"People have to sanction the deal, but there are conversations going on and hopefully in the next 24 hours we'll have some positive news," Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Tees on Thursday night.

Good luck to Juke, and to Nimely who will need it if he is expected to keep us up
