Scottish defender denies City exit

Scottish defender denies City exit

Despite denials by the player himself that he has handed in a transfer request, James McPake is being linked with a January move back to his native Scotland.

Andy Thorn has made clear his disappointment at the defender's desire to leave the Ricoh Arena after the club's patience in a player who has suffered more than his fair share of time out due to injury although McPake himself says he is happy to stay and fight for a place in the team.

'James came to see me and said he and his wife want to go back to Scotland,' said the City boss.

'After his injury and giving him another year to get himself right to play it seems a little bit disappointing.

'But if that is what he wants, if people do not want to stick around for the fight and do not want to play here that's fine, they can move on because I need people who want to have a go for the club.'

Hearts, Hibernian and Dunfermline Athletic have all been linked with the player although, with Nathan Cameron currently sidelined, Thorn is keen to have cover in place before sanctioning an exit.

Vital Coventry forum member 'roberts' is wondering whether Hearts' interest in McPake could revive City's long-term interest in Andrew Driver.
