McLeish recalls Gardner

McLeish recalls Gardner

Some more disappointing news for the Sky Blues today with the news that 19 year old Gary Gardner has been recalled by Aston Villa for an immediate return to the club.

During his four games with Coventry City he has proved what a quality player he is and he returns to the Villa with this endorsement from Andy Thorn in todays Coventry Evening Telegraph.

"You only have to watch him for five minutes to know that he`s a terrific player," said Thorn.

"He's a box-to-box player with a real goal threat, but he slotted into Sammy Clingan`s role against Hull and looked super there as well."

Thorn added: "His attitude is absolutely brilliant. He fitted into the dressing room from day one and he gave us everything on the training pitch. It was an absolute pleasure."

Gardner's return opens the way for either Gary Deegan or Carl Baker to prove whether they have the potential to tie down a permanent first team position.
