Watching brief for Sky Blues

Having brought forward their game against Cardiff City, Coventry City will take a watching brief this midweek when there is a busy schedule of Championship fixtures.

All of the teams directly above the Sky Blues in the table are in action and the gap between City and safety, currrently six points, could be bigger by the weekend.

Worringly there has been plenty of signs of improvement at a number of those teams with Bristol City inspired by new manager Derek McInnes and Nottingham Forest similarly under Steve Cotterill.

Doncaster Rovers are the only side keeping Coventry off the foot of the table but have made a host of loan and temporary signings in recent weeks and will be hoping that that pays dividends in their upcoming fixtures.

Could have been worse, Donny beaten keeps us off the bottom, Ipswich look to be in freefall. Beat Pompey on Saturday and we'll be on the up!
