Pre-match: watching brief for new Forest boss

Nottingham Forest's players will be looking to impress their new manager when they travel to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday afternoon after a deal was done that saw Steve Cotterill swap Portsmouth for the City Ground.

Steve McClaren's successor will take up a watching brief to begin with, officially taking over on Monday with Rob Kelly taking charge for Saturday's game.

Speaking about the Sky Blues, Kelly told the official NFFC website: 'They are also a club in transition and it is taking time for them to settle.

'But it will be a difficult game - it always is there.'

For the home side, off-field rumours and injury problems have dominated their build-up to the game but with Andy Thorn as upbeat as ever about the quality of his players, fans can at least go to the Ricoh with some sort of optimism to cling to.
