Championship: Saunders for Rovers/Leeds strengthen

Doncaster Rovers are to make a surprise managerial change after a start to the season that has seen them garner just one point from their seven games to date. Despite that Sean O'Driscoll had seemed safe in his position with the full backing of chairman John Ryan, a man with a reputation for patience when dealing with the men in charge of his club's first team.

Indeed, speaking in midweek Ryan had said: 'I've never responded to hotheads who want to sack somebody, I don't think it's ever worked, look at Sheffield United.'

The situation has changed quickly however with O'Driscoll placed on 'gardening leave' and former Aston Villa and Liverpool striker Dean Saunders set to leave his role at Wrexham (where former Sky Blues striker Andy Morrell has been placed in caretaker charge) to come to the Keepmoat Stadium.

Coventry City travel to South Yorkshire to face Rovers on Saturday 29 November.

Leeds United meanwhile have sealed a loan deal for Danny Pugh of Stoke City, with a permanent move set to follow in January.
It means a second spell at Elland Road for the versatile 28-year-old, squeezed out of the Stoke picture after the Potteries club's ambitious transfer moves on deadline day.

Leeds manager Simon Grayson told the club website: 'He's a versatile and experienced player, who has played in the Premier League and Europa League.

'He also knows the Championship well and he knows the club very well.'

The Sky Blues are in West Yorkshire to face the Whites on Tuesday 18 October.

Surprised at O'Driscoll going. He's had to sell some good players and then lost Sharp to injury.
