'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Super Sky Blues off the mark

Coventry City got the win that their manager Andy Thorn predicted when seeing off Derby County 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday evening.

The Sky Blues continued with their patient passing football but created more clear-cut chances than in previous games and got the piece of luck they deserved when awarded a soft spot-kick which Lukas Jutkiewizc rolled in.

After that however there was only going to be one winner as City, superbly solid at the back, made the game safe thanks to Baker's crisp finish.

Five points then for Thorn's men and the manager was full of praise for his side afterwards.

"We've started the season well and I keep repeating myself that our points tally doesn't add up with our performances," he told Sky Sports HD2.

"So we know what we had to do, we just had to keep doing what we were doing and take our chances when they came along.

"I thought we were fantastic today. I thought we moved the ball really well against a very good side.

"I think we deserved the victory. I was proud of the boys. Because of their ages there's no end to what they can go onto achieve.

"It's important we focus on the pitch and we can go on from this."

A long-overdue good day for the supporters as well even if it was again marred by heavy-handed security with regards to 'SISU out' banners.
