Coventry will be one of the proud hosts of the 2012 Olympic Football tournament at the City of Coventry Stadium, renamed especially for the games.
Vital Football will be looking ahead to the competition on a regular basis over the coming year and focuses on the ongoing debate over whether players from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be allowed to turn out for Team GB.
Widely seen as the best player on the pitch when England and Wales met at Wembley on Tuesday night, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey believes both he and fellow countryman Gareth Bale would jump at the chance to be part of the Olympics.
'If given the opportunity, it`s one I`d like to take,' said the midfielder.
'I've heard Gareth has the same feelings as well.
'The chance of playing in the Olympics and winning a medal would be a great one in your career.`
Ex-Sky Blues defender Stuart Pearce is being tipped to lead the British team and name a provisional squad of players before the end of the year.
The debate over the make-up of the squad is not confined to the men's game either and another Arsenal star, Scotland's Kim Little, has similar feelings to Ramsey.
'I don't see why anyone would want to stop a player from playing at a massive tournament like the Olympics, it's the biggest sporting event ever,' she has said.
'If I get the opportunity I'll grab it with both hands - I would definitely play.'
