Page urges Macca to stay

Robert Page is hopeful that Gary McSheffrey will still be a Coventry City player when the Championship season begins next weekend.

Birmingham City remain keen on the striker despite having had two bids rejected.

Page said: 'To be part of this football club is fantastic on its own and you want the best players in this league to be in and around you, and Gary is certainly one of those.

'He proved it last year and there has been a lot of speculation and hype about interest in him.

'It is a bit of a distraction but all the boys are supportive and we all want him to stay. He knows that.'
