City need to access goals from all areas

Given the summer loss of last season's top goalscorer Marlon King, the lack of new signings and the current injury problems affecting fellow forwards Freddy Eastwood and Lukas Jutkiewicz it is looking as though goals may be hard to come by for Coventry City in the forthcoming campaign.

Double figures are a must for both Jutkiewicz (9 league goals in 2010/11) and Gary McSheffrey (8) but the Sky Blues also need more from their midfielders and defenders.

Sammy Clingan, David Bell and Carl Baker contributed only 3 goals between them last year while the early-season threat of Ben Turner from set-pieces was lost when he succumbed to injury.

'tasty-looking'

Turner should be back in action soon and could profit from some of the tasty-looking corners and free-kicks that Clingan and Chris Hussey have been delivering in pre-season. Richard Wood is keen to do the same, telling the Coventry Telegraph: 'I am going to work on the attacking side of my game to make sure I get a few goals this season.

'I like to think a goalscoring centre-half is worth their weight in gold.'

Further forward hopefully a way of playing under Thorn that gets more out of the flair players at his disposal will see a better return in front of goals from the likes of Bell and Baker.
