City joint-favourites for the drop!

City joint-favourites for the drop!

The Sky Blues are being tipped for relegation by the bookmakers after a summer of inactivity in the transfer market and amid continuing rumours about the parlous financial state of the club.

Although a best-price of 5/2 is available on City being relegated, Corals cannot split them, Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers, making all three as short as 15/8 for the dreaded drop.

Andy Thorn's bullish pre-season optimism about the qualities of his players and their commitment to the Sky Blues will be needed as the popular City boss gets set for what will surely be the toughest task of his professional career.

"If people want to write us off I am not bothered about that,' he told the Telegraph on Thursday.

"Let them think that because we are certainly not a team that will be lying down any more.'
