'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Like a new signing for the Sky Blues

'I want to be in the team from day one, definitely.

"When we are playing Leicester at home and the gaffer is drawing up the team sheet I want to be on it.

'That's a must for me.'

Confident talk from injury-hit Irish midfielder Gary Deegan, quoted in the Coventry Telegraph, as he looks to begin his Coventry City career in earnest this season.

Vowing to outshine the departed Aron Gunnarsson, Deegan certainly has the chance to stake his claim in the 2011/12 campaign as Andy Thorn's squad is likely to be stretched to the limit by a 46-game season with little (if any) money in the kitty for new signings.

I like Deegan and think he is more than capable of filling the gap left by Aron.
