'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thorn delighted as City trio sign

Jordan Clarke, Callum Wilson and Shaun Jeffers have all signed new Coventry City contracts ahead of the new campaign, Clarke penning a three-year deal and Wilson and Jeffers signing up for two more seasons.

Clarke can be expected to feature regularly next season as he is clearly highly-thought-of by manager Andy Thorn, who picked Clarke whenever he could in the final weeks of last season, moving Richard Keogh to centre-half to allow the right-back to play in his favoured position.

'These three lads have all progressed through our academy and it is encouraging to see that we are producing the sort of talent that can feed the first team,' Thorn told City's website.

'In the days of so many loan players, there is no question that supporters prefer to see players progressing through the ranks.'

The manager's last quote is spot on and if City can field a team containing a healthy proportion of home-grown players next season it will be far more preferable to packing the side full of loanees.
