Notts County preview

Coventry City step up their pre-season preparations with a game against Notts County at Meadow Lane on Sunday.

The League Two side are under new management after the appointment of Steve Thompson, who has been very busy in the transfer market with almost a whole teams' worth of new arrivals.

Most familar face to Sky Blues fans in the opposition ranks will be David Pipe. The 22-year-old Welsh wideman came through the ranks at City and made 25 appearances for the club before his move to Notts in January 2004.

The two sides last met competitively in one of the final games in the old first division before it became the Premiership, County winning 1-0 at Meadow Lane in April 1992.

The Magpies ended up being relegated but made up for the defeat by beating Luton a few weeks later and saving City from the drop after they had lost at Aston Villa.
