Marlon agrees new contract

A great boost for the Sky Blues with the news that Marlon King has verbally agreed a new deal to stay at the Ricoh. After his performances towards the end of last season this is undoubtedly a positive move.

Although's King's agent (a man who never misses the chance to stir things up on behalf of his client) has moved to say that nothing is agreed yet, City must be very confident that the deal will be done.

Having looked a certainty to leave once his mentor Aidy Boothroyd was sacked, King has seemingly been swayed by a combination of factors. These include Thorn's attacking style of play which suited the striker down to the ground in the final weeks of the season and the support and encouragement he has received from both club and fans.

In all honesty there has also probably been a lack of offers coming King's way from the Premier League. For various reasons none of the promoted trio would want to sign him and, those clubs aside, he doesn't fit the bill anywhere else in the top-flight.

Leicester City have been the most strongly linked with the player but despite the presence of Sven and some money men in the boardroom that would have remained a sideways move for someone who must be looking to put down some roots at this stage of his career.
