McPake determined to be a Scottish success

James McPake is entering the final year of his Coventry City contract determined not to be remembered alongside other Sky Blues signings from Scotland who have failed to make an impact after moving to England.

For every Kevin Gallacher, snapped up from Dundee United for £900,000 in 1990 and a big fans favourite, there has been at least one Eoin Jess, who made little impact following his £1.75m switch from Aberdeen in 1996 while the least said about those players who joined from Glasgow Rangers (Kevin Drinkell, Terry Butcher and Sandy Robertson) the better.

To be fair McPake has shown more than enough while on the pitch to endear himself to the Ricoh Arena faithful but his problem has been keeping fit, something he is keen to stress is not due to any recurring
problems.

'When you look at them they have been freak injuries,' he told the Coventry Telegraph.

'There's not a lot you can do when someone knees you in the back and you break three bones or you dislocate your shoulder as I did in my first pre-season here.'

Just seen Cardiff City have released 7 loan signings. How does that foster any form of team spirit?
