Nuneaton preview

A full-strength Coventry City side is expected to take the field at Manor Park on Thursday for a pre-season friendly against Nuneaton Borough.

The 'Boro enter the 2006/07 campaign on the back of a never to be forgotten season where they reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup before holding Middlesbrough to a 1-1 draw at Manor Park.

Between the first tie and the replay at the Riverside Stadium, the prospect of a local derby with the Sky Blues came out of the hat for the 4th round draw but it was not to be as the non-league side bowed out gallantly on Teesside.

Manager Roger Ashby will be looking for his side to gain promotion back to the Conference this season after recent near-misses and recently strengthened his squad with the signing of former City youth team striker Gary McPhee.

Rob Oddy, Mark Noon and David Blenkinsopp are other players with Sky Blue connections who will be looking to do well against Micky Adams side.

Kick-off on Thursday is at 7:45pm.
