2010/11 key moments: King of the City
A transfer saga that began almost the moment that Aidy Boothroyd became Coventry City manager finally ended just after half-time of September`s home game against Preston North End.
With the Sky Blues trailing by two goals to nil to the Championship strugglers, Boothroyd introduced Marlon King from the substitutes bench to what was generally a good reception from the Ricoh Arena crowd.
Playing his first competitive game since leaving prison, King showed immediate glimpses of the quality that had Boothroyd hailing him as a '£5m signing`.
"When I saw the team sheet I thought that the headlines had been written, but it was not to be," said captain Lee Carsley after his side pulled a goal back but ultimately ended the game pointless.
"Marlon is coming to the club with a point to prove. He was always going to get a good reception at home but he will get some stick at away matches.
"There was never going to be a question over ability, it was how fit he would get and how quickly."
