'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thorn inspires his Sky Blues side

After a fortnight dominated by off-field problems and with the future of their club very much still up in the air, Coventry City supporters were at least treated to a sparkling display of football from their side on Saturday as the Sky Blues stopped their slide down the Championship table.

Play-off chasing Watford were well beaten as caretaker manager Andy Thorn inspired a vibrant attacking display from his charges.

City set up in a system designed to get the best out of their most talented players and the likes of David Bell, Gary McSheffrey and Sammy Clingan responded superbly to that with a performance full of patient passing football and threat from all angles.

McSheffrey steered home the first after a Bell pass and Lukas Jutkiewicz made the points safe after coming on from the bench.

Watford can point to some fluffed lines in front of goal but the home side hit the woodwork with regularity and also had a brace of goals disallowed as their supporters left the Ricoh Arena with smiles on their faces for the first time in months.
