Sky Blues sack Boothroyd

The club announced this morning that they had dismissed both Aidy Boothroyd and his assistant Martin Pert after a run of one victory in 16 league games.

The club are now looking for their 10th manager in 10 seasons, a dismal record. Steve Harrison and chief scout Andy Thorn have been put in temporary charge ahead of tomorrows' game at Burnley.

Coventry City are now 19th in the Championship, just seven points off the relegation places.

A statement on the club website read: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Aidy and Martin for their efforts.

"We will not be holding a media conference today as the team is preparing for the match at Burnley."

"Andy Thorn and Steve Harrison are in charge and we'll see what this brings," said chairman Ray Ranson later.

"After Saturday there's an international break so we've got a couple of weeks to take stock and see where we are.

"But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that if we won the next two games then the boys would be in charge until the end of the season.

"We're looking for those three or four wins that we need between now and the end of the season to guarantee this club will be in the Championship next year."

How are we supposed to do any good if there is no stability at the club? This is disgraceful to sack him after only 1 season.
