Tigers tame toothless Sky Blues

Tigers tame toothless Sky Blues

Coventry City are now firmly embroiled in a battle to stay in the Championship after another dismal home defeat against Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

As against Bristol City last weekend the Sky Blues started the game seeing plenty of the ball but were again undone by the visitors' first real attack of the game.

After that there was little to worry Hull aside from a brief spell of home pressure around the hour mark which brought a flurry of clearances off the line.

For all Aidy Boothroyd's relentless optimism the reality of the situation is now clear to see and the manager pulled no punches afterwards, saying: "We can make excuses like bad luck or when players get injured and suspended but it gives other players the opportunity to step up and play. If we are consistent we will win more games.

"It is disappointing, annoying, irritating, all those words and it boils down to being consistent and doing your job. We mustn't feel sorry for ourselves."
