'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fixtures back up optimistic Aidy

'We have got 40 points at the moment and we want to work hard to get to 50 first, then to 60 and who knows, perhaps even 70.'
Aidy Boothroyd, speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, could never be accused of setting the bar low for his players and has high hopes for the remainder of the season after being encouraged by recent performances.

Looking at the fixture list then maybe Aidy has the right idea to be optimistic. In their final thirteen games of the campaign the Sky Blues will only once face a team that currently lie in the top seven of the Championship when they travel to Norwich on the final day.

And that's a good job as City have a dismal record against those top seven clubs this season. Thirteen games against QPR, Swansea, Cardiff, Forest, Norwich, Leeds and Leicester have yielded the grand total of two points from a brace of draws against the Foxes.

So the chance is there for Boothroyd to do something that Chris Coleman spectacularly failed to do during his two full seasons in charge and that is end the campaign on a high note, giving the supporters some optimism to take into the summer and maybe providing a boost to season ticket sales.

It all starts against Bristol City on Saturday. Play up Sky Blues!
