Championship: Transfer Latest (1)

As the Championship season approaches its business end clubs across the division are looking to strengthen with loan signings for the run-in to the campaign.

Barnsley beat off competition from local rivals Sheffield United to land Marlon Harewood from Blackpool with the experienced striker named on the bench for Saturday's game against Norwich.

This weekend's Sky Blues opponents Bristol City are scouring the market for a new defender as boss Keith Millen has a host of injury problems ahead of their trip to the Ricoh Arena including former Coventry man Louis Carey who misses the game after suffering a fractured skull against Scunthorpe.

Another one-time Sky Blues man, midfielder Jack Cork is enjoying life on loan at Burnley so much that he is keen for a permanent switch to Turf Moor.

Cardiff City are keen to take Chris Kirkland, who started his career with Coventry of course, on loan but the deal, which was reported as done and dusted on Monday has hit a snag.

A big late push for the play-offs is being made by Hull City and manager Nigel Pearson has added to his options with the capture of Liverpool winger David Amoo on a three-month deal.

Midfielders Michael Johnson (Manchester City), Barry Bannan (Aston Villa) and Jordon Mutch (Birmingham City) are all being linked with Leeds United.
