At last! City end winless streak

Coventry City ended their lengthy run of games without a win by beating Crystal Palace at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Blues were well worth their victory despite a nervewracking finale when the visitors enjoyed their best spell of the game.

Richard Wood headed City in front to send them in a goal to the good after a scrappy first-half and the home side came out with plenty of good purpose after the break.

Marlon King's quality again stood out and the striker was rewarded for his efforts with the second goal which ultimately clinched the game.

"A massive amount of credit has to go the players for that because we got a result and we got a performance," said Aidy Boothroyd afterwards. "We can enjoy the result and relax a little bit because I have probably haven't been very easy to live with on the last few Sundays!"

Opposite number Dougie Freedman commented: "I was disappointed with the result but not the performance - especially in the second half.

"We had a game plan that was working in the first half but we gave away a soft goal and we changed in the second half which made us a bit more vulnerable at the back but we created a bit more."
